    At least the G1 JAE709 had an adjustable mag collet what, 10 years ago? I’m really struggling to see how this chassis isn’t just charging more for less features than the competition. My launch JAE700 was only $1080usd too 😮

    Great video. This thing definitely seems cool and I wish them the best. The chassis/stock market for PRS is so saturated right now it's crazy and I'm not sure I see anything that's truly an improvement. I wish them the best and look forward to seeing them at matches!

    It's a cool looking chassis. I do wish that the integral ARCA rail had R-Lock holes in it since I've grown very fond of that system. I think the ACC Elite has R-Lock slots built into its integral rail. Side note, any experience with the Manners LRH stock? I'd kind of like to get one for an NRL Hunter (and just a hunting) build.

    BATFE is going to come down hard on that design. It's basically welded baffles. They shut down Sig Sauer, Lethal Eye, etc for a similar design.

    • @gilbertopadilla3611
      @gilbertopadilla3611 19 днів тому

      There are tons of muzzle brakes on the market. The brake makes the gun louder. What are you getting at? It sounds like you're comparing a muzzle brake to a suppressor.

    • @NiteQwill_
      @NiteQwill_ 19 днів тому

      @@gilbertopadilla3611 Correct, and if you research past determinations from BATFE, brake designs that are similar to the CHAD have been dealt the heavy hand. Just because it is louder doesn't negate design criticism. For example, take a look at what they determined 3-4 weeks ago on a similar design muzzle brake. It also doesn't take a genius to look at the design of the CHAD and see the baffle design of the brake. In any case, I'm not a brake guy anyway... So suppressed shooting 99.999% for me unless I compete in a Commie state.

    • @NiteQwill_
      @NiteQwill_ 19 днів тому

      Look, at the end of the day, BATFE making such determinations is wrong and against all 2A values. Having built a few suppressors legally, I wouldn't risk dog shooters showing up to my door unnecessarily.

    • @NiteQwill_
      @NiteQwill_ 19 днів тому

      The error is the actual website describes the design, which is idiotic to me (note last sentence): The biggest difference being the CHAD isn’t a shell with inserts like the tmb. It’s six individually machined pieces laser welded into a single assembly, (like tubeless silencers).

    Cool video. A couple of things. It is great to have the scope cam on this - but it would have been ideal to swap out the brake to something different halfway through so as to have a direct comparison to something else. Secondly, there seems to be almost a small vibration at the end of the muzzle on some shots - almost like the CHAD is pushing and flexing the barrel downward and then it continues to vibrate very slightly. Lastly, in a similar vein, to me the reticle always moved upwards, yet on many occasions you can clearly see the barrel being pushed down. Any concerns regarding this potential flex?

    • @Covertnoob5
      @Covertnoob5 20 днів тому

      I will be comparing to the area419 hellfire and APA G3 FB in the full review video. At what point are you seeing this flex? And at what point do you see be barrel being clearly pushed down? I guess timestamps would help address these concerns further.

    • @thegriff9425
      @thegriff9425 20 днів тому

      @@Covertnoob5 Just looked at the video full screen and with .25 speed. I can't see the vibration - what I think I was seeing on the ipad was the rifle re-settleing which made it almost look like a vibration. Cool to watch in slow mo. Definitely keeps the rifle flat - you can see the barrel dip downwards (especially modified prone) as opposed to rising on many shots. After the rifle dips - very slightly - it rises then re settles. Looking forward to seeing it side by side on other brakes.

    You’ll have to forgive me, but I hunt and shoot steal for fun at 500 and 1000 yards. I also reload my own ammunition. I typically use one of 4 cartilages. A 270 Win, 300 H&H, 338 Win Mag and a 375 H&H. I have never used a brake, and I pretty much hit everything I aim at. Why do you guys use brakes with pee-wee cartridges, using 20 pound rifles? Maybe you guys should be shooting pcp air rifles.

    • @Covertnoob5
      @Covertnoob5 20 днів тому

      In a match we shoot 100-120 rounds a day. You’re not doing that with a 300 H&H without developing a flinch and beating yourself up for no reason. Off props I guarantee there’s 0 chance you’re seeing your trace and bullet impact at 4,5,600 yards with a 375 H&H to make corrections. We all mostly reload our ammo. There’s a big difference between shooting steel at the range with all day, no time limit, no props, no difficulty except when you’re ready to pull the trigger and what we do.

    Compared to the Labradar the Garmin is next level. It has a 12-degree arc of acquisition which is far more forgiving than Labradar. It picks up suppressed as it is not sound activated. Power consumption is several hours and does not need an external battery. Someone on Snipershide opened his and the Li-ion battery is a standard Garmin dog collar 3.7V Li-ion with plug. It has automatic cut-out at 30min. Stores in FIT files on the device but the phone app automatically converts to CSV for exporting/emailing. Don't need an after-market rail attachment or grey Ops cover ($30) as it works perfectly with the supplied tripod - save your $$$. Plus if it is separate to the gun you're not subjecting it to unnecessary recoil, which according to other shooters it seems to handle just fine. Dropping it from the bench is not desirable but probably a non-issue. I store mine in an old Otterbox8000 but a Pelican Micro 1040 will fit it snugly with the tripod attached. The Pelican 1010 fits the radar only but hey, the tiny tripod does not need protection. To be honest all you really need to protect is the screen, and from it getting run over by a truck. It's IPX7 water rated which means waterproof to 1metre for 30min. Do I really need a waterproof case? Hmmm. An old sock or pencil case will do but.. that's lamb being dressed up as mutton. Pony-up for the Garmin, you won't be disappointed.

    Aside from missing the multi-distance readings on the Labradar, I love the C1. That said, the multi-distance Labradar readings weren't particularly useful to me, v0 is pretty much all I was personally after, so the C1 is a better fit for me... both physically and in terms of the data I want out of a chrono. I think PRS shooters who care enough to calculate their own BC may remain interested in the Labradar or FX chronos, but for general shooters and occasional reloaders like me the C1 tells me exactly what I want to know with minimal space and setup. Conceal and Carry on!

  • @SplashOfOrange
    @SplashOfOrange 4 місяці тому

    I enjoyed the video, please take this feedback constructively -- the distance apart tests were kinda silly and poorly thought out. To be meaningful you'd have to have both fired at the exact same moment otherwise pretty much any chrono is going to record whichever shot it "sees" first, and then needs a few seconds before it will record a new shot. Labradar seems to want about 2 seconds between shots, the C1 about 3 seconds. I have taken my C1 to a range several times and it's not uncommon at all for it to pickup my shots and a couple shots of those in immediately adjacent firing lanes, so when at a busy public range I tend to enable the C1 right before I shoot and then quickly end the session as soon as I'm done, and then review and remove any shots from the session that seem out of place. IMHO the OG Labradar is "more capable" due to recording up to 5 distances, but the C1 is so packable/portable that it's "more useful" and "more reliable" so it's what I keep in my range bag. Kind regards, Conceal and Carry on!

      So I have run additional tests with people shooting at the same time and waiting even longer after me but it never picked up their shot. I intend to do a follow up video of this. In addition I ran mine on my rifle for an entire local match and didn’t have any issues either. I had one interesting circumstance where it “analyzed” a shot from a guy on the zero line next to me but didn’t actually log it if that makes sense.

      @@Covertnoob5yes, more common than ghost readings is to see my C1 register a shot from a neighboring lane and then rightly discard the reading, but based on timing this means it's also occupied and wouldn't log even my own shot during that processing window. So it does a decent job filtering out adjacent shooters, it's just not 100%. As you observed, the C1 typically has a field of view a good bit wider, and narrower, than the recommended 5-15" which is both a pro and a con depending on the range and setup. On the narrow side, for example, many C1 users will mount it directly to their rifle with maybe just a 1" barrel offset, if that, and it still reliably picks up their shots. It's a brilliant little device for sure, but there's no magic or secret sauce... it will generally detect and record the first shot it sees within its detection cone and velocity parameters and then 2-3 seconds later, when it shows the velocity, be ready for the next shot. For example I shot some 2100fps +p loads while the C1 was set to 600-1700 fps range and it rightly saw but discarded those shots as outside of the intended parameters. This certainly helps discard some ghost readings, but it's trickier when both you and that nearby adjacent shooter are shooting both within the cone and within the velocity spec. k/r

    I wonder why they went with the small front half? Tube/50mm objective. I love that they have an unreal FOV. I love my 525i DLR, i was hoping for that 56mm.

      Official explanation was to be able to keep size and weight down. I do think their choices in those regards were a mistake. Once you go 36mm main tube, I think you’ve got to commit to full fledge tactical scope.

      @Covertnoob5 that's exactly what I mean. I'm a bit disappointed with the 50mm. I would have been onboard with the 56mm. Keeping weight down doesn't cut it. I'd run it if it was 40oz. Precision rifles arnt light to Begin with. And they have Plenty of light options in their catalog.

    What's with the 8x erector? I get it for a crossover 2-16 or something, but 3-28? I'd rather have a well executed 5x with the eyepiece. Like, a DLR 5-25 with a good reticle and this eyepiece would be a winner for me.
